According to a 2019 report from the United States Census Bureau, female engineers represent only about 13% of the total engineering workforce. And, according to the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES), Black women comprise a mere 1.6 percent of the country’s scientists and engineers. This alarming underrepresentation underscores the significance of addressing gender and race biases, which often take root at an early age. J.H.
